Washington Capital Alex Ovechkin continues to break the record for all-time goals in Wayne Gretzky. On Tuesday, in a loss of 3-2 at the overtime against the Winnipeg Jets, Ovechkin took another step towards this milestone, as he scored 889th goal from his Nhl Career.

Ovecchkin is only six goals to overcome 894 Gretzky’s 894 goals goals.

With Ovechkin approaching the record, hockey fans begin to ask -if the capital’s head will come before the conclusion of the regular season. According to Sportsline’s data, Ovechkin has 72.65% chance of breaking the record this season.

Sportsline estimates that Ovechkin probably breaks the record somewhere between April 14 and 17. The 39 -year -old is 14.88% breaking the record on April 12 against the blue jackets of Columbus. Ovechkin also has a 13.97% chance of surpassing Gretzky on April 13, also against blue jackets, and 13.88% probabilities on April 15 against New York Islands.

Ovechkin has scored three goals during his last five games and alternated competitions in which he scored these goals. The capital star has scored six goals in 12 games in March.

Ovechkin currently has 36 goals and 24 assists this season, as he is committed to reaching the 40 goals per third time in the last four seasons.

The capitals are also chasing the presidents’ trophy, who goes to the team with more points in the league. With Washington pursuing the first selection of the Eastern Conference Playoff race, Ovechkin should have many opportunities to put the shit on the network for the last three weeks of the regular season.
