Stanley Cup Playoffs 2025: Picks, predictions for every Round 2 series, including Jets vs. Stars
With two games 7 of the game they officially decided to conclude the first round, the second round matches are scheduled for the Playoffs of the Stanley 2025 Cup, and eight teams will continue to fight for the final hockey prize. During the next two weeks, the finals of the Eastern and Western Conference will be decided, as these teams will go head.
At the Eastern Conference, the Stanley Cup champion, which Florida Panthers reigned has shown that they could still be the team to beat, but will face a very difficult test against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the meantime, the Washington Capital, who ended the best record in the east, will face the hurricanes of Carolina in the Metropolitan Division party.
When it comes to the western conference, the most prominent Winnipeg jets avoided a disaster in the opening round, but will face an even harder team in the Dallas Stars. The stars also had to overcome a 2-0 deficit in match 7 to defeat Colorado’s assessment, but are now favored to demolish the winners of the presidents’ trophy.
Finally, the golden knights of Vegas will assume the Edmonton Oilers in what could be a battle for the centuries. Vegas won the Minnesota Wild in six games to reach the second round, while Edmonton won four consecutive games against the Los Angeles Kings to move on.
Before the second round of the Playoffs of the Stanley Cup, here is our expert options for each winner of the series.
Panthers vs maple leafs
Series Probabilities: Panthers -184, Leaves of Rapon +150 (Via Fanduel)
Sticks: I made the mistake of choosing the panthers in the opening round, but this time I will not do the same supervision. The panthers looked like a well -granted machine, as they demolished lightning in just five games. Star striker Matthew Tkachuk made his long -awaited return to the program and turned out to be the straw that shakes the Florida drink. The panthers presented their offensive attack balanced with everyone, from Sam Reinhart to Tkachuk to the production of Aleksander Barkov. It also does not hurt that the panthers have a Playoff goalkeeper proven in the form of Sergei Bobrovsky, who reached 2.21 goals in the first round in the first round.
In the meantime, the Maple Leafs will need spectacular shows of their talented Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner and John Tavares if they want to defeat the panthers. They will have to find a way to deal with the goals if they want to have any chance to overcome the panthers. I think this will be a very entertaining series, but the Panthers have too much fire power and they are the Stanley Cup champions that reign for a reason. PICK – PANTHERS DEF. Maple leaves 4-2
Serbison: The Maple Leafs were able to survive a minor from the senators and returned to the second round for the second time in the last three years. The last time they arrived in the second round, they were expelled by the panthers in five games. If this result will be different, the CORE Four Plus Matthew Knies will have to continue its strong game. The five were combined by 12 goals and 20 assists against the sens.
Of course, the opponent is much more formidable now. What the panthers did in lightning in the last round was fearsome. Gustav Forsling and Aleksander Barkov retained Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Brandon Hagel in control of the whole series. Florida has shown over and again that elite offensive players can close and their group forward can score with anyone. The leaves fought, but Barkov is the difference again. PICK – PANTHERS DEF. Maple leaves 4-2
The hurricanes vs. capital
Series Probabilities: hurricanes -160, capitals +140 (via DraftkingsThat)
Sticks: It is worth noting that the capitals did a pretty test against the Canadians despite finishing the series in five games. However, this is a team that thrives offensively to the tuning of the second more goals per contest (3.49) during the regular season. Although they have sometimes been a sensational offensive team, I think they can trust Alex Ovechkin a little too much, and hurricanes have more depth in Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho and many others.
Although I like hurricanes in this game, I’m planned to be a long series, as these two teams are even evenly. During a round, these are the first two teams in having the lowest goals, in the average. Hurricanes are planned to start starting the Frederik Anderson network of the injury to start the series, which will be a great boost. This series could be decided for what purpose of the team increased to the occasion throughout the series, and I am finally supporting hurricanes in a tight topic. Pick – Hurricanes def. Capitals 4-3
Sercision: Both teams were the clear favorites in their respective first -round series and played like this. In addition to these teams, they played offensively, the goalkeepers were the most impressive. Logan Thompson (4.11) and Frederik Andersen (3.93) are the first two goals in saved goals above the average of this post -season, according to Natural Stat Trick.
So what goalkeeper will blink first and often in this series? If Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov continue to play as they did in the first round, it will be Thompson. Svechikov found his punctuation touch and showed that he was one of the best two -band centers in the league. For the caps, Alex Ovecchkin scored four goals against the Canadians, showing that he can still fill the network to the playoffs. Unfortunately for Ovechkin and everyone else on the Washington, Carolina and Montreal list are not in the same universe when playing defense. The goals will be harder to achieve for the capitals and the canes win the series. Pick – Hurricanes def. Capitals 4-2
Stars vs. Jets
Series probabilities: stars -165, airplanes +140 (via BETMGMThat)
Sticks: Both teams had a touch for the dramatic in the first round, but they eventually survived some very hard tests. Striker Mikko Rantanen prepared a couple of performances for the ages of Games 6 and 7 to push the stars ahead of the avalanche. After a slow start of the post -season, Rantanen accumulated four goals and four assists in the last two games of this series. What may have been even impressive that Rantanen’s game was the fact that Dallas could win the series without the star striker Jason Robertson and the defender Miro Heiskanen. Given how deep the stars are in the center, they are the team that exceeds this series and I think they will come to the winning end.
Jet goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, the favorite to win the vezin trophy, certainly did not play like the Nhl’s Under Netminder than the opening round. Hellebuyck recorded a shocking of 3.85 goals in the average and a percentage of .830 in seven games against the Blues. He surrendered at least three goals in six of the seven games, while allowing five or more goals in three contests. Hellebuyck simply has to be better if the jets want to have some chance to hang with the stars and their juggling offense, but I don’t see it happening. Pick – Stars Def. Jets 4-2
Serbison: These teams died in the water in the third period of their respective games of match 7, and both dramatically assaulted to move forward. The Jets were able to do it despite another disturbing performance by the star goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, at least in the regulation. Its 9.84 goals allowed situations above average dead to go to the playoffs, according to the natural trick.
The big question for me in this series is if Hellebuyck can gain some confidence with a good effort in the overtime of the game 7. If they can, the jets have an absolutely shot in this series. If you continue to fight, the series will be very brief. The stars simply have too much fire power, especially with Jason Robertson near a return, so that Hellebuyck is left in gentle goals. In addition, Winnipeg has little space for a mistake because both Mark Scheifle and Josh Morrisey are affected after the first round with St. Louis. Dallas is deeper, healthy and improving. Pick – Stars Def. Jets 4-1
Oilers vs Golden Knights
Series Probability: Golden Knights -115, Oilers -105 (via CesarsThat)
Sticks: The Golden Knights certainly had a forgetful start to the savage, but finally saw that their talent passed them to the next round. However, Vegas registered a 3.17 goals in the average, which is definitely not an ideal performance with a playoff goalkeeper tested as Adin Hill to clean and now the oilers on the roof. Hill will have to play more as he did in the last three games against Minnesota. Despite slowly going down, Golden Knights saw Star ahead Jack Eichel closed the series with five points over the last three games in the inaugural round.
In the meantime, the Oilers promised a maximum of 4.5 goals of NHL per contest in the first round against the kings. In fact, they scored at least five goals in three of these games. Whenever a team has ahead of the Superstrella, such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, punctuation opportunities will always be quite abundant. However, Achilles of the Oilers heel has always seemed to be the goal position. Edmonton ended up moving to Calvin Pickard as the initial netminder of the team for the last four games against Los Angeles, who were victories. If Pickard can produce network service performances, Oilers have a chance, but I think Golden Knights do enough to move on. PICK – GOLDEN KNIGHTS DEF. Oilers 4-3
Serbison: The last round, the Oilers once again demonstrated that Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl can cover many warts. This duo was combined by 21 points when Edmonton eliminated four consecutive wins after falling behind the 2-0 in the series. The kings were as well equipped as anyone to deal with the Oilers star, and they could not contain them for a long time.
On the paper, the Golden Knights should be the challenge, but Alex Pietrangelo and Noah Hanifin had very unequal performances against the wild. If this trend continues, McDavid and Draisaitl will celebrate again. On the other hand, the Oilers continue to do without Mattias Ekholm on the blue line, which makes them vulnerable to Jack Eichel and Tomas Hertl huts. Add the fact that neither team achieved the stellar projection in the first round, and this could become a surprising series of great score. If you do, it is difficult to bet against McDavid and the Oilers. Pick – Oilers Def. Golden Knights 4-3
