The leaves of Toronto Maple have a low season and there may be some important changes on the way. Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving said that the list may need a shake after another relatively short trajectory in the post -season.

The Maple Leafs 2024-25 were a victory to overcome the Playoff Hump and reach the finals of the conference for the first time since 2002. However, Toronto made an advantage of the series 2-0 in the Panthers of Florida and was exploited in match 7 of the second round.

In his end-of-season press conference, Treliving said Toronto will need some new “DNA” in 2025-26.

“There is some DNA that has to change in our team,” said Treliving. “If you continue to reach the same result, and this is not to rule out a lot of the good that occurred. When you continue to get the same result, there is a DNA that must change.”

For almost a decade, Maple Leafs have trusted their “Core Four”, which consists of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner and John Tavares. They have won a lot in the regular season, but they have won only two playoff series.

Two of these players, Marner and Tavares, will become free agents without restrictions. In addition, Matthew Knies is a restricted free agent after a separation season in which he scored 29 goals and added 29 assists.

It will be difficult for Toronto to keep everyone around, especially considering the restrictions of the pay lid and the pressure of the fans to make remarkable changes after another long season. Maple leaves have already done chosen to separate with President Brendan ShanahanAnd now all eyes are heading to the list.

No matter how difficult it is to keep everyone united, especially with the price that Marner could command open after a 100 -point season, Toronto should run. This may not be the most popular decision, but between a poor free agent market and a lack of capital, it may be the most prudent movement.
