Lourdes Gurriel Jr. injury: D-backs outfielder tears ACL on bizarre play, likely to miss large portion of 2026

Diamondbacks Left Fielder Lourdes Gurrriel Jr. was injured on Monday evening and it turned out to be significant. On Tuesday, D-Says announced the movements of a number of lists, including the affected list, due to the ACL, torn in his right knee. He’s obviously done for the season and he will most likely miss in the first few months of 2026 MLB season.
Here is the play where Gurel was injured. It was a strange game because Gurel was in the left field, apparently injured when he had to cut in the last second to avoid a flourishing catch. It would be fair to name it Freak Access.
One of the more interesting aspects of injury is the status of Gurriel’s contract. He sets $ 13 million next season, but he also has an output provision.
31-year-old Gurel ends the 2025 season. It is possible that the market at this time and try to test the ACL surgery and recovery at the top of the season, and it seems that the guren remains with snakes.

The Arizona season travels Tuesday to 68-71, which is 6 ½ game in NL playoffs in NL. It is in the miracle range, but it is more likely that knives will play for winning post, pride and next season.
