Looking back at college hockey’s best freshmen from 2024-25

Several novices across the hockey of NCAA DI this season have done significantly, performing with strong campaigns and showing a promise for the future of university hockey. Now that the season is over, let’s look back at some of the best freshmen of this season.

Cole Hutson, D, Boston University

As the leading points of all time among the defenders for the US National Team Development Program, expectations were high for Hutson to come into his first collegial season. The third Hutson, who played BU, joined his brother Quinn in the terrier line -up and immediately had an impact, scored in his first game on October 5 against the Holy Cross.

Hutson completed the season 48 points, which led all novices NCAA and all defenders. He was the only freshman and the only defender in the country to record several four -point games, and as a member of the Gold Medal Team USA, he became the first defender to lead the Junior World Championship. He led all Boston U. in assists (34) and finished second at points and watched only his brother Quinn (50). Hutson led terriers at points in the NCAA DI tournament and ended with 2G-6A-8P in four games.

Hutson’s shift and elite skating provided him with a lot of gaming reels, including this short -term destination at the NCAA regional tournament against Cornell:

April 18, Hutson announced that he would return to Boston University For his season Sophomore to chase the National Championship.

Charlie Cerrato, F, Penn State

Cerrato finished second in points between all ncaa di and in 38 games he recorded 15G-27A-42P. Cerrato was helpful when turning the Penn State season after the Lions Nittans started 0-8 in the Big Ten. The second semester with 2G-3A began in the first three New Year games and continued his hot scoring pace when Penn State published a record of 11-3-4 to create the NCAA tournament.

Cerrato’s second half helped him be the second highest scoring of newcomers in Penn State 13 years as a DI program. His biggest game of the season came in the overtime of the NCAA Regional Region when his neat passage behind the scenes found Matt Dimarsico to send Penn State to his first frozen four:

The undefined Cerrato will be the name that you can watch on the NHL design in 2025 in June, but for now it will be a big offensive work for the growing PENN State program.

Trevor Hoskin, F, Niagara

Niagara's Trevor Hoskin

Before joining Niagara, a native of Belleville in Ontario was appointed CJHL MVP as the best player in the Canadian junior and with 42 goals and 58 assists in 52 games. This season he continued his impressive scoring pace and finished third among all freshmen with 39 points and tied senior Jay Ahearn for team management. Hoskin also published 13 multibod games throughout the season and organized two separate point stripes of seven games.

The view of Calgary Flames will move to Merrimack College for the coming season.

James Hagens, F, Boston College

James Hagens of Boston College

Hagens, who came to his newcomers to his season, was perceived as a potential first selection in the entry item to 2025 of the NHL. During two seasons with the American National Development Team he published 87 points in 57 games. Hagens joined the busy Boston College list as a newcomer and found himself on the top line with one of the best duo of the nation in Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault.

Hagens finished fourth among the heads in scoring with 37 points and the third among newcomers in assists with 26. His biggest moment of the season was the concerned target in the dying minutes to give Boston College over Bentley in the regional semifinals of the NCAA:

Hagens’s offensive efforts made it a unanimous selection for the Hockey East All-Rookie team, and while its share design slightly intervened in 2024-25, it is still largely projected as the five best selections in the 2025 NHL in June.

Cole Eiserman, F, Boston University

20. The total selection in the proposal for entry into 2024 NHL, Eiserman came out of a record career UsntDP and the first in the history of the program ranked first with 127 goals. His elite goal scoring continued at the university level because he led all NCAA Rookies and Boston U. with 25 goals in 39 games.

Eiserman’s 36 points were tied to the fifth one this season. He also had five more goal games, including two hattrics, first against Vermont and later against No. 6 Providence. Frozen four goals in Frozen Four Run Terriers, including their goal in their loss of championships in West Michigan.

Michael Hage, F, Michigan

Michigan's Michael Hage

Hage was developed 21. In the NHL proposal 2024 Montreal Canadiens after completing the fourth place in Ushl in scoring in 2023-24 with 75 points in 54 games. In his first season Michigan missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019, but Hage was a clear place for Wolverines in the season up and down.

Hage finished second in the team and the sixth among all newcomers in scoring with 34 points in 33 games. This season he had points in 22 games and recorded eight multi -point performances. His pace of Point-Per-Hra brought him recognition as Big of the Freshman of the Year.

March 25. Hage announced that it will be Return to Michigan for the 2025-26 season.

HAMPTON SLOKYNSKY, G, Western Michigan

Western Michigan's Hampton Slukynsky

Slokynsky’s Freshman Season is about as good as it gets, and broncos starts on their first frozen four appearance and national title in the history of the program. Standout goalkeeper published a record of 19-5 and was tied to the first among the newcomers with 1.90 Gaa, breaking the Western Michigan record for the lowest GAA in the season.

On the national scene, the selection of Los Angeles Kings Draft 2023 saved 101 out of 106 shots and published 0.943 SV% in four starts in the NCAA tournament.

AJEET GUNDARAH, G, Sacred Heart

AJEET GUNDARAH SACRED Heart

In front of Gundarah, Eagles led his Surrey at the BCHL Championship and earned the highest honor as the first BCHL All-Star team and recorded the best league .931 SV%. He increased his game in Sacred Heart and led all NCAA di goalkeeper in SV% (0.936) and Shutouts (3) and tied Hampton Slukynsky for guidance in Gaa (1.90). Gundarah’s 16 victories powered Sacred Heart for 21 victories in the season, the best in the program history.
