Hockey fans in Canada have exposed some patience waiting for the Stanley Cup to return their return to the north of the border. How long will they have to wait? Maybe not long with Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup final for the second consecutive season.

On June 9, 1993, the Montreal Canadiens went around the Stanley Cup after defeating the Los Angeles Kings in five games. “Jurassic Park” was doing the competition at the box office. “Roseanne” and “Improvement” were almost every TV in America. Janet Jackson’s “That Is the Way Love Goes” passed the billboard graphs.

The Stanley Cup has resided in the United States for 32 years in a row, but now the Oilers are in two games to break this streak. After falling 2-0 in their first round against the Kings of Los Angeles, the Oilers went 14-2 on their way to the Stanley Cup final, eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas star in five games each.

In match 1 of the Stanley Cup final, Edmonton approached the Cup thanks to a two -goals and heroic comeback from Leon Draisaitl’s extension. The Oilers then left the next two games in the series to one of the most chaotic final games in recent memory.

In match 4, the Panthers sought to make an advantage of the series 3-1 when they jumped to the 3-0 advantage in the first period. It seemed that Edmonton would go home facing the elimination, but the team met, scoring four in a row to get a 4-3 advantage in the third period. Still, it wasn’t easy.

Sam Reinhart, from Florida, tied the game with less than 20 seconds that he remained in the regulations to send the party at extraordinary hours. The next goal would balance the series in favor of this team, and luckily for Edmonton, Draisaitl re -entered. His pass diverted a defender of the panthers and the net to tie the series at 2-2.

These last two wins will be the toughest for the Oilers, but they have all the pieces to bring the Stanley Cup to the north of the border for the first time since 1993. Until then, here is the Stanley Cup drought from all Canadian teams.
