Argentina may have already booked their place in the World Cup 2026, but behind them the qualification of Conmebol World Cup is quite a grinding, with only three points that separate the second placed Ecuador from the sixth placed Colombia. South American qualification can always be a tense affair, but with Brazil and Uruguay who have difficulty setting up behind Argentina, things are more open than in recent years.

Of course, with Carlo Ancelotti who makes his debut as the new head coach of the National Team of Brazil, there can be quite a bit about to change. He has a lot of work to find out the balance of the team, and it showed in an opening of 0-0 draw against Ecuador, but getting the best out of Raphinha and Vinicius Junor will go a long way to turn things around for Brazil.

Venezuela is also looking for their first world cup performance in history. Currently, seventh are in the rankings, they would be in an intercontinental play for a chance of a world cup place, but they are only one point in front of Bolivia whose last performance at the 1994 World Cup, when it was also in the United States.
