Hockey Hall of Fame class of 2025: Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton headline this year’s inductees

The former defender of Boston Bruins, Zdeno Chara, and the legendary San Jose Sharks forward, Joe Thornton Nhl On Tuesday, players who were elected at the Hockey Fame Hall. Duncan Keith and Alexander Mogilny were also elected as part of Class 2025.

Chara, Keith and Thornton were selected in the first year of eligibility of the Fame Show.

The Fama Show candidates must receive at least 75% of the selection committee vote to be introduced into fame hockey. There are a maximum limit of four retired men, two retired players and two builders who can be chosen in a certain year.

The former forward of the Canadian National Selection, Jennifer Botterill, and the former -national leader of the United States National Women’s National Team, Brianna Decker, were elected at the Hockey Fame Hall. When it came to the Builders category, the former Boston University coach, Jack Parker, and the former coach of the Canadian women’s national team, Daniele Sauvageau, will also be induced.

Chara spent most of his legendary career with the Boston Bruins (2006-20), while also spent time with the New York Islanders (1997-2001, 2021-22), the Senators of Ottawa (2001-06) and Washington Capitals (2020-21). The rugged defender accumulated 680 points (209 goals and 471 assists) in his 24 -year career from the NHL. It helped the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup in 2011 and also won the Norris Trophy in 2008-09 as the best defender of the NHL.

Thornton recorded 24 NHL stations where he surpassed 1,539 career points (430 goals and 1,109 assists) playing The Bruins (1997-2005), San Jose Sharks (2005-20), Toronto Maple Leafs (2020-21), and Florida Panthers (2021-22). The talented forward ranks 14th place in points and is one of the only 16 players who have registered at least 1,500 points. In addition, he won the Hart Trophy in 2005-06 as the MVP of the League and the Ross Art Trophy as the highest scorer in the NHL with 125 points (29 goals and 96 assists) in 2005-06.

Keith was a member of the Blackhawks Chicago (2005-21) and helped lead the Franchise to three Stanley Cups in the 2010’s. The eight members of the Hockey Hockey 2025 fame class will be induced on November 10 in Toronto.
