Diana Taurasi says Paige Bueckers will one day be ‘the best player’ in WNBA
Nobody can blame the future Hall of Fama Taurasi to know the ball. So when she talks about a basketball player, it’s probably time to listen. Taurasi made a brave forecast when he speeches SportyFrom 2025 from 2025, Paige Bueckers says that the guard of the Dallas Wings one day will be “the best player in the league”.
Taurasi praised Bueckers, in a discussion about what it is like to design it first overall and end up in a reconstruction team. “The WNBA, it is another animal. There are different challenges, you know as a single person as a team. If you receive number one, you usually go to a team that is being rebuilt, and as you can tell Paige, she was another player from game 1.
Bueckers, four games in, scores an average of 13 points per game and 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals. The wings are currently 0-4, but you can already see references to the player who will be Bueckers, e.g.
Taurasi was the first choice in the WNBA design of 2004 when the Phoenix Mercury selected her from Uconn. The mercury was 8: 26 in 2003, to secure this first choice to secure the WNBA playing times, slowly than Taurasi until they won their first championship in 2007 after a 23:11 campaign. Taurasi played 20 seasons in the WNBA (despite the year 2015) and won the honors of the Rookie of the Years, 10 all-WNBA first team selections, an MVP, 11 All-Star nicken and a total of three championships. Bueckers is at least in a similar starting point from Uconn’s program to a reconstruction team, from which she could be the manager with just a few seasons.
As with Taurasi, it is possible that at some point she will be the best player in the league, e.g. B. when she won MVP ceremonies in 2009. Taurasi certainly believes that this is possible. “The only thing I know about Paige is that she is so patient that she is so patient that she is so prepared. And I think she has learned that in the past four or five years and all the things she has learned at Connecticut, she changed the way you look at this team. One day she will be the best player in the league in the league.”
The WNBA is of course loaded with exceptionally talented players, and Bueckers is only a handful of games in its own professional career, so that a lot can happen between now and “one day”. However, she was already one of the top players at the college level, and Uconn certainly has a proven success record in sending WNBA-capable players to the design to the design, who then thrive in the end, like Taurasi. It is quite possible that Bueckers will be the next case.
