David Beckham reveals Manchester United first agreed to sell him to Barcelona before 2003 move to Real Madrid
While Inter and Barcelona were confronted in the semi -final of the Champions League, David Beckham told his move from 2003 to Real Madrid and how it could have ended that he had at Barcelona at the Beckham and Friends Watchhalong show on Paramount+. Beckham’s move to Real Madrid was a huge moment, not only for him, but also for English football. It was a new territory for an international in England that moved to the largest club in Spain. But without the Beckham’s interjection it would have come to Barcelona instead of Real Madrid.
When he received the call that he would be sold from Manchester United, Beckham was told that he was on his way to Barcelona, but with his dream to move to Real Madrid, that was not a movement that would work if he left the club and he told them that if he were sold to Spain, it had to be to realize. United was able to come together and quickly find a move, send Beckham to Madrid, and the rest is history.
In Real Madrid, Beckham would score 20 goals in 158 games while winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup during his four seasons with the La Liga side. In 2007 he was one of the key figures to help Real Madrid lift that title. Beckham also played an important role on the sides of England in that period and participated in the European Championship 2004 and the 2006 World Cup for the Drie Leeuwen. But it could all have been different if that call would have been aware of a move differently.
