Club World Cup scenarios: What Inter Miami, Real Madrid, more need to do to reach the round of 16

The field at the Club World Cup will decrease from 32 to 16 in the course of the following week, while group stage finals take place in the US, the road made for the knockout phases that start on Saturday.

As expected, the round of 16 is expected to become teams from Europe and South America, although that does not mean that the tournament has not been full of surprises. South American teams have only combined one loss at the World Cup club so far, while Flamengo is one of the few teams to book their place in the next round with a match after victories against Esperance de Tunis and Chelsea.

In the meantime, Inter Miami is in a strong position to be the only team, not of those continents to crack the last 16 thanks to their surprise 2-1 win over Porto. Most teams that are expected to reach the next round, however, still have to record their spots and set up for a dramatic final round of group phase luminaires.
