After a debilitating club football season it was difficult to know how some of the largest European teams would approach the club world cup, but Bayern Munich gave an answer in their first group game, dismantling amateur Auckland City FC 10-0. It is a record win for a team that participated in the club World Cup when Bayern surpassed Al-Hilal’s 6-1 victory over Al Jazira in 2021. No team has ever scored more goals than Bayern’s Nine in a Clubworldbeker competition.

With the tournament that is being extended to 32 teams for this edition in the United States, this is a record that may not be long, but that does not matter for Bayern Munich after starting the tournament in style.

Towards the end of the first half of the game, the German giants stood before 6-0 with Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise-Net brackets. They didn’t even need to be involved in Harry Kane to reach that brand, with the attack passing through the amateur side. After only having won the Bundesliga last season, Vincent Kompany is one of the managers whose side a Club World Cup could use to settle as contenders for the Champions League next season.

Kompany has been able to have time for new recruit Jonathan Tah to make his way into the defense after he joined Bayer Leverkusen. Tah will be a large part of every success of Bayern Munich next season, so it is very important to be a tournament such as the World Cup of the club to step into the team. Jamal Musiala was also able to get a hat trick in the second half of the game in his return of a hamstring injury that kept him outside at the end of the season. Musiala came from the bank to replace Kane, scored a pretty goal from outside the box next to a penalty and punished Auckland for a giveaway to complete his hat trick.

Whatever the score, Bayern did not leave the pressure because every player was hungry for a goal. With Benfica and Boca Juniors as the other teams in the group, it is important to take a statement of explanation, and the German giants did exactly that. Auckland City FC still had an unforgettable moment despite the score, but because this is a tournament where they also want to pick up points, it is important to have a short memory and to place it behind them because there are still important luminaires to play this game.
