UEFA Champions League winners and ladies -Ero champions dominated the list of Ballon d’Or nominees, with the announcement of Thursday possibly freeing the way for new winners of the best individual award of the sport in the game for men and ladies.
On the men’s side, nine Paris Saint-Germain players Including Ousmane Dembele And Khvicha kvaratskhelia Made the shortlist only two months after playing a key role when the French club won their very first Champions League title. Other contenders include Liverpool’s Mohamed is wrong After a record-breaking campaign on the way to his second Premier League title and Barcelona’s Lamine YamalA rising star after winning the Double Double last season. Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior is also back among the nominees a year after he and his club teammates had the Boycot ceremony when discovering that he would not win the prize.
Menawhile in the women’s game, four members of England Euro-winning team of ladies, including striking Alessia Russo and Stalwart Lucy Bronze, also made the cut. Two American national team players for women – Emily Fox and Lindsey Heaps – are also on the list and five NWSL players, including MVP from last season A collisionare also in the running.
France Football, the French magazine that the Ballon d’Or organizes, also called the nominees for various other categories – the Kopa -Trophy for young players, the Yashin Trophy for goalkeepers, the Johan Cruyff Award celebrating coaches and the Club of the Year Award. The winners will be announced on September 22 during a ceremony in Paris.
