The Minister of National Security Patricia Bullrich of Argentina sent a list to the American embassy in Buenos Aires on Monday with the names of more than 15,000 violent football fans that will be forbidden to attend the club World Cup this summer.

“The list contains more than 15,000 people who will be banned from stadiums,” said Bullrich, Per Reuters. “This is extremely important for us because no violent person who has committed a crime in Argentinian stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event.”

The list of names was made through the “Tribuna Segura” program, which detects people who are banned from stadiums in Argentina.

“Since the start of this government, ‘Tribuna Segura’ has followed more than four million people in 1,328 competitions,” said Bullrich, who has been in her current role since 2023, when Javier became Milei president of Argentina. “We have discovered 1,166 people with arrest statements and have issued more than 40 administrative resolutions that limit accession to stadiums.”

The Club World Cup, which will take place in the US from 14 June to 13 July, will have two teams from Argentina participating – Boca Juniors and River Plate. Boca Juniors were placed in group C and will be the German Bayern Munich, Portugal’s Benfica and Auckland City in the group in Zeeland in the group stage. River plate is now in group F and is playing Italy’s Inter, Mexico’s Monterrey and the Japanese Urawa Red Diamonds in the group phase.
