No Lionel Messi, no problem for Argentina-the ruling world champions gathered a 4-1 victory over Brazil on Tuesday, the day they also booked their place at the World Cup 2026. Julian Alvarez and Enzo Fernandez made sure that Argentina would have a 2-0 end by the 12th minute and although Matheus, Daheus, would have a carefy vane van, Daheus, Daheus, Deprunha, Depunha, Depunha, Depunha, Depuna, Doegheus, Doegheus, Doemut, Depuna, Doemut, Doegheus, Doemut, Doeels, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doemut, Doegheus, who was Vanheus, who was Vanheus, who was carefy. Alexis Mac Allister and Giuliano Simeone for the hosts to come with a commander victory.
Argentina ends this month’s international break with an eight -pointed lead in second place Ecuador and qualified for the World Cup with five to save, proof of the success of their qualifying campaign. Although Messi leads the Congebol qualifying match with six goals to date, manager Lionel Scaloni has been able to test what this time looks like without the 37-year-old and the results have been fairly impressive, and Chuck Booth notices that Tuesday’s victory was symbolic for those efforts.
- Booth: “Argentina has bent their depth with not only Messi, but also striker Lautaro Martinez who had to withdraw from the team with an injury. He was in the minds of players with Alvarez and Fernandez who were both goals by another player. By Argentina’s flexible passage that even gets back to Nicolas.”
As far as Brazil is concerned, they end the month in fourth place, nestled in the top six places that provide an automatic qualification for the World Cup 2026. They are six points for seventh place Venezuela, who are sitting in a play -off place, and seven for the eighth place Bolivia, so how good they will still do, a big question remains, a big question. Despite all their attacking talent on the field on Tuesday, with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Raphinha who all got the start, they only took three shots against Argentina and Cunha’s goal was their only attempt on goal.
Argentina has so far been one of the four non-host countries to book a trip to the World Cup 2026, in which Japan, New Zealand and Iran also earn their place during this month’s international window. As it looks now, 41 places are still for the taking at the very first 48 team division of the World Cup.

🇺🇸 Rodman returns for the USWNT

For the first time since the Olympic Games of last summer, Trinity Rodman returns to the US national team and joins the group for the friendly matches of next month against Brazil. She is one of the more experienced players in a selection full of relative newcomers, while head coach Emma Hayes continues a period of experiments while the long way to the World Cup for ladies from 2027 continues.
Here is a look at the schedule complete.
- Goalkeepers (3): Jane Campbell (Houston Dash), Mandy McMlynn (Utah Royals), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (Manchester United)
- Defenders (8): Alana Cook (current Kansas City Current), Tierna Davidson (Gotham FC), Crystal Dunn (Paris Saint-Germain), Emily Fox (Arsenal FC, Tara Mckeown (Washington Spirit), Avery Patterson (Houston Sonnett), Emily sonnett () focs sonnett () focs sonnett () focs), sonnett ()) focs fomsam fcs ()) focs.
- Midfielders (6): Korbin Albert (Paris Saint-Germain), Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns FC), Lindsey Heaps (Olympique Lyon), Claire Hutton (Kansas City Current), Jaedyn Shaw (North Carolina Courage), Lily Yohannes (Ajax) () () Ajax) () ()) ()) () ()) ()) ()) () ()) ()) ()) ()) () ()) () ()) ()) ()) () ()) () ()) () ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) ()) () () ()) ()) ()) () (), () (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax) (Ajax)
- Forwards (7): Michelle Cooper (Current Current), Ashley Hatch (Washington Spirit), Catarina Macario (Chelsea FC, Eng), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Yazmeen Ryan (Houston Dash), Ally Sentnor (Utah Fcals), Alysa Thompsa), Alysa Thompson)
Hayes will work with 11 players with 10 or fewer international performances, including goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and defender Avery Patterson, who can earn their first caps during this camp. Defender Alana Cook and Forward Ashley Hatch have meanwhile earned their first minutes since Hayes took the job and demonstrate the continuous efforts of the head coach to broaden the player pool as much as possible. That effort also includes working next to the U-23 USWNT, which will at the same time run a camp with the Senior team that is comparable to the Futures camp that took place in January.
While Hayes continues to tinker with new faces and new ideas, the position of the goalkeeper remains a focus area after the international pension of Alyssa Naeher at the end of 2024. Hayes has adhered to the group she has brought for the pressure on the club, the most aware of the national team.
- Hayes: “Each of the keepers who compete for places, listen, if you think about this prior to when even Alyssa [Naeher] Made the number one of her, it takes a period to be able to solidify that. And I think it’s fair to say that we have many good quality keepers. Who will come from that as number one? Don’t know it, but they have to take their chances when they get them. This is a performance -related company, and every occasion they get, they have to make the best of it, because of course that will influence my decision -making as we claim and this camp, there will be changes in the goal again. “
The USWNT will play Brazil for the first time on April 5 in Sofi Stadium, where the lawns used for the Concacaf Nations League will remain in place, before a second match against the World Cup host of 2027 on 8 April in PayPal Park in San Jose.

💰 The back line
💵 Dear bets
- UEFA Women’s Champions League: Arsenal vs. Real Madrid, Wednesday, 4 p.m.
💰 The choice: Less than three scored goals (+115) -In demonstrably the most intriguing matchup of the week, Arsenal has to come back from the surprise 2-0 behind that they suffered in Madrid last week. It creates a fascinating scenario in the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal is under a real pressure to score, while Real Madrid will probably do what they can do to keep a clean slate, which makes things fairly unpredictable when the game actually starts. A prediction that there will be fewer than three goals on Wednesday feels like it touches the Sweet Spot – there is enough room to explain Arsenal to assemble a comeback or for Real Madrid to hang on their lead and complete the upset.
