NWSL Power Rankings: Seattle Reign on the up; Washington Spirit near the top as Orlando Pride slip
After seven games, crammed in two days at the weekend, the NWSL season 2025 will continue, and my power rankings too. The five -week characteristic of the schedule presented some competitive Glimpen under trending teams, and after three consecutive weeks of the same top two contenders, recent team performance has finally changed the upper part of the ranking.
If there was a theme for week five, it was rivalry. Not only in the sense of regional types, but counter-head that look complicated at potential playoff prospects outside of a game with high bet. Orlando and Washington finally had the chance to compete without title for the first time since November 2024. week four rankings.
The teams with a medium -sized teams usually have the most movement for me. From week five is no different, with clubs between the fifth and ninth slots that make noise. San Diego makes a steady rise in the charts stably, and it feels like the point in the season where we will continue to jockey the Californian parties for position.
Unfortunately, the lower end of the ranking starts to solidify itself as consistently as the top teams. Already a tough opening of five weeks of the season for Chicago, Louisville and Utah – the trends have the feeling that it will be the case for a while.
Week six stands for the US and the quarter of the season is approaching quickly, so don’t miss action. Fans can view Selected NWSL regular season races CBS” CBS Sports Network” Paramount+and CBS Sports Golazo Network.
Now, time for our ranking:
2025 NWSL Power Rankings
1. |
Kansas City Current |
– |
On a five-game winning streak with goals from several players in the Roster, including early competition MVP candidate Deinha. They do not take prisoners and beat postseason opportunities, playoff hopeful and bottom-feder teams. |
2. |
Washington Spirit |
+1 |
No trinity rodman, no problem, for now. The Spirit bends the scheduled depth and remains a difficult top team for lesser opponents and a formidable enemy for the elite teams. |
3. |
Orlando Proud |
-1 |
I admit, it is strange to have Orlando in third place. They are a powerful team that wins games scary, and it has overtaken them in week five. They must be more clinical to be at the top again. |
4. |
NJ / NY Gotham FC |
–– |
All gas, no brakes for Gotham after the international window. In addition to Kansas City, they ride at the momentum of top shape as they manage injuries. |
5. |
Seattle Reign FC |
+1 |
Seattle made a bit of a statement against the thorns of Portland and Lynn Biyendolo made her first start of the season. A good time for the reign to climb the ranking. |
6. |
Angel City FC |
-1 |
Adjustments by the coaching staff did not pay off last week against a Playoff -Competent, Gotham FC. Interim coach Sam Laity has about a month to rework line -ups until the newly hired manager Alexander Straus arrives in June. |
7. |
San Diego Wave FC |
+1 |
Rising tides for San Diego, who continue to climb the rankings. France Internationals Delphine Cascarino and Kenza Dali continue to deliver coupling performances, and San Diego looks more dangerous week after week. |
8. |
Houston Dash |
-1 |
That new car smell quickly fades for Houston. There is still enough to be enthusiastic about first -year movements and a new head coach, but that is not possible whether there are no winning results. |
9. |
Bay FC |
+2 |
They bounced back on the table thanks to an outbreak performance by Kiki Pickett. If they can think of a way to produce more from their chances, they might break through the upper half of the ranking. |
10. |
North Carolina courage |
-1 |
Slide, fall and cannot stand up. The gametactics are there, but the selection is struggling to implement the plan. Maybe it’s time for a formational adjustment, because things don’t work completely. |
11. |
Portland Thorns FC |
-1 |
Nothing could happen during momentum fluctuations in a rivalry game, and one win in five games is exactly where this team was a year ago. Not where they want to be. |
12. |
Utah Royals |
– |
I have to achieve the victories where and when you can, and sometimes that is when you are a bad team with another bad team. Thank goodness for the cool attitude of Ally Sentnor on punishment. |
13. |
Chicago Stars FC |
– |
Coaching staff made a lot of subs while traveling and height seemed to play a role, and that is about everything that was memorable about their week five performance. |
14. |
Racing Louisville FC |
– |
Every week that is passed, a new series of questions for Louisville. This week it is: “Where are we going from here?” |
