2024-25 NHL injury tracker: Connor McDavid, Leon Drasaitl banged up as playoffs approach

Edmonton Oilers are considered one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, but their two best players are treating injuries as playoffs approach. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are expected to lose at least the next team’s games.

The first McDavid and Drasitl could return is April 1, but the Oilers have not committed to a definitive return date for either players. DRASAITL leads the NHL with 49 goals, and is second in the league with 101 points. McDavid is third in attendance (64) and fourth in points (90).

The Oilers fight for Playoff’s position with the Knights Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division, and being McDavid and Draisaitl puts them at a significant disadvantage. This means that Edmonton may not have a home advantage in the first round and probably beyond.

The other team of last year’s Stanley Cup also deals with major injuries. After injuring their intake in the face of the 4 nations, the Florida panthers announced that Star Matthew Tkachuk striker has been placed in Lir and will probably leave the Playoffs of the Stanley Cup.
