Former college baseball players who have won the MLB Home Run Derby
Only 13 university stars continued first in the MLB Home Run derby since the All-Star weekend event was introduced in 1985. The latest was the product Florida Pete Alonso, who won the 2021 event in Coors Field in Denver in Co, with New York Mets. It was his second consecutive victory in Derby, who became the first former player of the baseball at the university to achieve this performance. The Alonso Koruna from 2019 came to Cleveland’s progressive field.
In front of Alonso, only two players in MLB history successfully defended their title Home Run Derby-Ken Griffey Jr. (1998-99) and Yoenis awardedes (2013-14).

This is 12 different winners spread out on nine different conferences and two divisions in NCAA – Dawson played for Florida A&M when Rattlers played in division II – with another Junior College (Harper). The only two NCAA conferences with more than one representative are PAC-12 (McGwire, Bonds) and Sec (Frank Thomas and Pete Alonso).
