Where to watch Mexico vs. Suriname, live stream: Gold Cup prediction, odds, predicted lineups

The Concacaf Gold Cup 2025 will continue on Wednesday with a debut Matchup. Mexico and Suriname will be confronted for the first time in the Gold Cup history in AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Despite the two parties that were previously confronted with different events, the Gold Cup competition appears to be a different beast.

Mexico comes from a 3-2 victory against the Dominican Republic to open their group game. El Tri is considered a favorite to win the tournament, but is currently in second place in group A behind Costa Rica with a less target difference. Suriname was on the losing side of an exciting 4-3 group opener against Costa Rica and will try to bounce back in MatchDay two.

El Tri can secure their place in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup with a victory against Suriname on Wednesday and a Costa Rica victory on the Dominican Republic.

Here are storylines, how you can view the competition and more:

Last meeting

Mexico led the all-time series with three victories and defeated Suriname 13-1. The few teams met each other for the first time in 1978 during a world cup qualification and El Tri delivered a dominant 8-1 victory. The two most recent meetings were during Concacaf Nations League matches. The first came in 2022, a 3-0 win for El Tri and later in 2023, a 2-0 win.

Predicted line -Ups

Suriname: Vaessen says; Dijkhel Acquisition, Van Velderslijn, Shipping, Shaquille van Dennen, Ridgemiano Haps; Jean-Paul Boëtius, Paal ,, Margaret’s Rich; Kark, BLLIJ Gleofilo

Mexico: Angel Malage; Jorge Sanchez, Israel Reyes, Cesar Montes, Jesus Gallardo; Oberlin Pineda, Edson Alvarez, Erik Lira, Alexis Vega; Raul Jimenez, Santiago Gimenez

Players to watch

Santiago Giménez, Mexico: Another tournament, another chance for Giménez to try to fight the accusations “he can’t do it in the national team”. He managed to make contact with Raul Jimenez on a goal against the Dominican Republic (his 40th of all time for Mexico), and now he will have to show that he can score for El Tri in the national team competition.

Gleophilo Podlyter, Suriname: The attacker is one of the more striking Caribbean attackers and is the leading goal scorer in Suriname. He was excluded against Costa Rica and will strive for his first goal of the tournament in match two. If he can get the service in the box, he will be a threat to Mexico with his physicality, air power and clinical finish.

Story lines to watch

Mexico: El Tri -head coach Javier Aguirre has tried to move some things tactically for the Gold Cup and play with two strikers in Jimenez and Gimenez. While the group grabbed his first group win, Agurrie was cautiously critical of some players’ performances in Match One. The old manager said that he would not say “names” to the media about players he wants to see more, but if Gimenez and Jimenez can continue their chemistry-build, it might be time to evaluate again.

Suriname: Manager Stanley Menzo can hardly be dissatisfied with the efforts of his selection, despite their 4-3 loss against Costa Rica, but the group has made things in itself more difficult in a difficult group. They took a lead of one goal post beyond the hour mark, but could not manage the rest of the game, because Costa Rica took all three points on a stopping time penalty. The intestinal punch will have to motivate them.

Prediction

Suriname was just a few minutes away from a group stage of the region, so will that be the matchday its two motivation they need to get it done? Perhaps it is a litmus test for the rise of the last name, it is also a chance for El Tri to silence any doubters after a slower start of their target score and some doubtful defense in the group opener. This will hardly be an eruption for both sides, but there will be a winner with little room for errors. Choose: Mexico 2, Suriname 1
