Fluminense starts their FIFA Club World Cup campaign and will be confronted with German Giants Borussia Dortmund in their opening match of the tournament. Jobe Bellingham to start on the couch

The move from Jowe Bellingham from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund was one of the most headline-grabbing deals during the Mini Transfer window that preceded the World Cup Club and although the 19-year-old could make his debut on Tuesday, this will not be because he starts.

“He will not start the competition tomorrow,” said Dortmund manager Niko Kovac in his comments on Monday, “because I think he is only a week with us and it is not enough to learn about our routines and our principles.”

He does expect Bellingham to earn minutes during the World Cup Club after a strong first week with the group.

“He is in top shape, in very good form,” said Kovac about Bellingham. “I am quite surprised, but I am also very happy with that.”

The younger Bellingham joins Dortmund after a few impressive seasons in the lower divisions of England, the most recently with Sunderland in the championship. He made 43 performances in all matches for the Black Cats and scored four goals for his move to Germany, and played all 90 minutes in their promotion -play -off last victory against Sheffield United last month. Kovac describes Bellingham as someone who will add quality to his selection, which will be the key after a season that was sometimes not impressive for the Bundesliga support pillar.

“We have a quality in the team and we want to increase the quality that our expectations are during every transfer window. We are not going to reinvent the wheel,” said Kovac. “Everyone is fighting for his position in football, but I think it’s too early that Jowe will have this position. I am sure he wants this position. He has only been with us for one week.”
