NHL coaching carousel 2025: Stars fire Pete DeBoer after another playoff exit, creating late vacancy in cycle

Just as it seemed that the NHL coach’s carousel had stopped turning, Dallas stars fired again as Pete Deboer firing after three final exits of the conference.

For the second consecutive year, the stars fell to Edmonton Oilers at the Western conference final. Deboer was very successful behind the bench in Dallas, but could not overcome the last two obstacles.

That is why the CEO Jim Nill believes that it is time to change aa.

“After careful consideration, we believe that a new voice is needed in our locker room to bring us closer to our goal of winning the Stanley Cup,” Nill said. “We want to thank Pete for all that has helped our organization to achieve the last three seasons and wish -nothing more than the best to move forward.”

Deboer leaves Dallas with a record of 149-68-29, and the stars will begin well a training search after other most important candidates have left the board. Eight of the other vacancies have been filled this season, but Dallas will be an attractive work with so much talented and young players in the middle of their principle.

The Boston Bruins were the eighth team that occupied his vacancy contracting Marco Sturm, who spent the last three seasons with the Reign of the Ontario de Ahl, the Los Angeles Kings subsidiary. During this time, Sturm directed the reign to a record of 119-80-11-6 and qualified for the playoffs in all three campaigns. Prior to that, Sturm acted as a 2018-22 kings assistant.

Anywhere around Coaching’s carousel, the Pittsburgh Penguins hired the former New York Rangers Dan Muse assistant. Seattle Kraken brought to former New York Island coach Lane Lambert, Canucks promoted assistant Adam Foote, and Rick Tocchet returned to Philadelphia’s Flyers as the new franchise coach.

With Sturm’s hiring, all NHL coaching vacancies have been filled.
