The Ballon d’Or winner of 2018 will be a free agent after participating in the Club World Cup with Madrid this summer, making it a valuable addition for various clubs, even with his 40th birthday in September.

Milan missed a European competition for next season, forced a management change that led to the recruitment of Massimiliano Allegri and possibly made the club an ideal landing site for Modric.
