2025 NHL awards tracker: Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck wins Hart Trophy; Avalanche’s Cale Makar wins Norris Trophy
With the end of the Stanley Cup in full development, the Nhl Continue to announce some of the League Award winners before the Nhl Awards ceremony by the end of this month.
More recently, Cale Makar was named winner of the Norris Trophy, which honors the Nhl’s Higher defender. Makar won 176 of the 191 votes in the first place when he surpassed the defender of the Jackets of Columbus Blue Zach Werenski and the defender of Vancouver Canucks Quinn Hughes for honor.
Makar became the first defender to get 30 goals in one season since Mike Green won the feat in 2008-09 as a member of the Washington Capitals. It was also only the fifth defender who recorded 90 -point campaigns on his back when he joined Paul Coffey and Macinnis. Makar’s 30 goals are also a franchise record for Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques for the goals of a defender in one season.
Montreal Canadiens Lane Hutson’s defender also won the Calder Trophy, which honors the first Novio. Hutson won 165 votes from the first place to fight Calgary Flames goalkeeper, Dustin Wolf and San Jose Thowks, Macklin celebration striker, who were the other two prize finalists.
Hutson became the fourth defender of the modern age (since 1943-44) to direct all rookies at points (66). He joined Bobby Orr (41), Brian Leetch (71) and Quinn Hughes (53) as the only blue liners to win this honor. Its 60 assists coincided with Larry Murphy (Kings, 1980-81) for attendance by a rookie defender at Nhl History. With the victory of the Calder Trophy, he became the third Canadian player to win the expansion era (since 1967-68) with Brendan Gallagher (2012-13) and Ken Dryden (1971-72).
The rest of the awards were announced at the NHL 2025 Awards on June 12, which saw that Connor Hellebuyck won his third vezin trophy as the best hockey goalkeeper, while also won Hart’s trophy as the most valuable player in the league for his team for the first time.
Hart Trophy
The Hart trophy is given “to the awarded player to be the most valuable for his team”.
In addition to his third vezin trophy, Hellebuyck has won the Hart trophy for the first time, becoming the first goalkeeper to receive the prize since Carey Price did it in 2014-15. This was the First Time Hellebuyck Had Ever Been Up for the Hart Trophy, and He Now Becomes The Eighth Different Goalnder to Win the Trophy Joining Roy Worters (1928-29), Chuck Rayner (1949-50), in Rollins (1953-54), Jacques Plane (1961-62), Dominik Hasek (1996-97, 1997-98), Jose Theodore (2001-02) and price.
Norris Trophy
The Norris Trophy is given “the defensive player who demonstrates throughout the season the greater total capacity of the position”.
Makar has captured the Norris Trophy for the second time in the last four seasons and has been a finalist in five of his first six seasons of the NHL. The Avalanche Blue-Liner joins the Penguins defender, Erik Karlsson, as the only active defender who won the Norris Trophy on several occasions. Makar finished the regular season with a NHL-Best 92 points, while leading the league in goals (30), assists (62) and game goals (12) among the defenders. At the age of 26, Makar enters the beginning of his career and could certainly add much more hardware to his trophy case before his career is complete.
Selke Trophy
The Selke Trophy is awarded to “the striker who best stands out in the defensive aspects of the game”.
The second Selke Trophy is Barkov and the third general of his career. Again, he was a heavy favorite to win the prize with a goal differential plus 13 to five, while also assumed the toughest matches and published 71 points in the offensive end. It does not appear that the Reign Selke of Barkov will end soon.
Calder Trophy
The Calder Trophy is given to “the player selected as the most expert in his first year of competition”.

- Finalist: Macklin Celebini (Sharks of San Jose)
Hutson may have been considered a dark horse to win the Calder trophy with players like Macklin Celebion and Philadelphia Flyers, Matvei Michkov, starting his careers this year. However, Hutson prospered with 66 points (six goals and 60 assists) and became the fourth defender in leading the NHL Rookies to mark in the modern age of the league (since 1943-44). Hutson established himself as the Most Mont -Real defender and becomes a key construction block for a young team who made the Playoffs of the Stanley Cup this season.
Jack Adams Award
The Jack Adams Award is given to the main coach, who “contributed more to the success of his team”.

- Finalist: Scott Arniel (Winnipeg Jets)
- Finalist: Martin St. Louis (Montreal Canadiens)
Charity won the Jack Adams Award in its second season as a capital coach. Previously, he spent some time as Maple Leafs assistant, while also acting as Hershey Bears’ coach, who are the AHL capital subsidiary. Charcery has accumulated a record 91-53-20 during the last two seasons and brought the capitals to the post-season in each of these campaigns.
Vezina trophy
The vezina trophy is granted “to the goalkeeper awarded to be the best in his position”.
Hellebuyck wins the vezin trophy for the second consecutive year and third time in general, pairing with its previous titles between 2019-20 and 2023-24. Hellebuyck spent 47-12-3 this season, establishing new race marks with eight descents and an average against the average of 2.00, both led the NHL as a whole.
TED Lindsay Award
The TED Lindsay Award is awarded annually to “NHL’s most prominent player”.
Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
The Masterton Trophy is awarded to “the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey”.
Lady Byng Trophy
The Lady Byng Trophy is the annual prize “to the player awarded for exposing the best kind of sportsmanship and gentle behaviors combined with a high level of play capacity.”
